Year 4 Visit Butser Ancient Farm

On Friday 11th November Year 4 visited Butser Ancient Farm for the day.  The farm itself is an open air research laboratory where the world of ancient Celts and Romans is explored.  Based on evidence from archaeological excavations of prehistoric sites in Britain and the rest of north-west Europe, their work is an attempt to find out more about the agricultural and domestic life of the Celtic Iron Age.  The girls were involved in some workshops while they were there and here are some of their thoughts:

‘I had a wonderful day at Butser Ancient Farm.’  -  Tilly

‘I had a lovely time, it was wicked.  The archaeology was great, I actually felt like a Roman, but the bracelet smelt and that’s OK!’  -  Bea

image‘I am still wearing the friendship bracelet we all made!  I hope we can come again!  I also liked doing the archaeology but only found a bucket handle! But it was exciting finding it at least.’  -  Hannah

‘... running in wellies is very hard, you should try it.  I have enjoyed every bit, it was the best history lesson ever.’  -  Felicity

‘My favourite was carving chalk, I made a green car.’ -  Frankie
