Year 3's town walk in Salisbury

Last week Leaden Hall Year Three girls took off for a very interesting walk around Salisbury.  They discovered so many interesting facts about their home town.  Here are some of the things that they learned:

Lucy discovered that The Blue Boar Inn is where a former friend of the King, who had betrayed him, had his head chopped off!  She also found out that Pudding Bridge is where butchers used to throw all the bad meat and left overs.  The poor would then retrieve it, dry it, and then cook and feed it to their families. Tasty!

Aoi found out that The Haunch of Venison is where the butchers used to go for a drink, smoke and to play cards. But one night one of the butchers got cross with another butcher and cut his hand off  with his butchering knife! Ouch!

Rose reported that the Poultry Cross was made by a naughty knight who had to pray under it where everyone could see him.
