How Eco-friendly is our Police Force?

EMERGENCY! How Eco-friendly is our Police Force?

This week Leaden Hall School held their third ‘Any Questions Assembly’, inviting Sergeant Richard Goodman and PCSO Jenny Moss to face a determined panel of ‘Eco Interrogators’ from Year 4 to Year 6. Earlier in the week the girls were asked to suggest questions to ask the willing (and brave) officers and came up with more than 60, but time only allowed 22 to be asked. PCSO Moss and Sergeant Goodman took it in turns to explain what Wiltshire Police recycled, whether they used the most eco-efficient fuels, whether traffic cones were made from recycled plastic and also raised many more important issues. The girls discovered that although the Police did have many eco-systems in place, there were areas where improvements could be made and the two Community Support officers will be looking into several suggestions from the Leaden Hall team.

This is the third in Leaden Hall’s ‘Any Question’ series. Our first brave contender was Mr P Callanan, Manager of the Sorting Office on behalf of the Post Office and the second was Mr J Davies, an NHS Consultant on behalf of the NHS. Both acquitted themselves and their institutions admirably but did take back some valuable tips too! The next Interview in the series will be Mr D Cooke from the Emergency Fire Department.
The headmistress, Julia Eager, is proud of Leaden Hall’s double Green Flag Eco status and calls on all schools to “promote an Eco / Sustainable agenda to students, staff and parents.”
