The Healthy Schools Award is a nationally recognised achievement which was first awarded to Leaden Hall in 2004. The award is given when a school is able to show evidence that it meets a broad range of criteria in both curricular, pastoral and environmental aspects of school life.
At Leaden Hall we are firm believers in seeing and helping ‘the whole child’. Our healthcare and pastoral team work with class teachers to ensure the emotional well-being of each child. The physical well-being of our children is nurtured through the great range of sports and activities that are available, as well as simply playing outside in the fresh air and enjoying our amazing school environment.
Our status as a ‘green flag’ school demonstrates our commitment to environmental issues and Leaden Hall girls are always thinking of new ideas to raise awareness and find solutions to problems. Through time-tabled lessons such as Geography, Science and PSHE, the girls learn about environmental problems. Many of our extra-curricular activities such as eco-gardening and bird watching, allow an interest in this to develop.
Food and nutrition also play a vital role in achieving Healthy School status. Our freshly cooked school meals and balanced diet are all carefully prepared under the watchful and experienced eye of our in-house catering team; something that undoubtedly plays a huge part in the healthy lifestyle we all enjoy at Leaden Hall.
